Anyone follow this latest Cuban fiasco, this time involving what looks like a An-2 (Kukuruznik) or Colt (if you so prefer)? How could Cubans let this flying barn door out of their sight? This thing cruises, at maybe 115 knots, at best! With the Key West airport being about 90 miles away, Cuban Air Force probably had at least 45 minutes to intercept, maybe a little more (all of their airspace is military, they had to have been in contact with ATC??? before the Antonov took off) Anyone else think they let them off too easy, and that one of those on board just may be a spy of some sort? Pretty far fetched, but it just looks too good to be true...

I think everything you said was right except an AN12 would at best cruise at 90knots.

Maybe the flew below the radar, plus I would guess that once the US intercepted it the Cuban's didn't want to get close, lest they might be seem as attacking the US fighters.

I got to say its a better plan that those rafts that some come in.

Yea, I am kind of partial to the Cubans not wanting to engage our fighters theory. But the ease with which they came amazes me though...Al Queda may not be far behind
