For the crews trapped in Europe what is your Airline’s management doing?

At CAL: Free phone calls, free hotel Laundry “after expense report” and a so called free dinner on top of the $48dollars a day in Per Diem…

Only 15 Euros for dinner… Management wants the Captain to buy and then take a written roll and then submit an expense report when he gets home with receipts and the roll call.

Dinner in Oslo and the UK run $40-60 on the low end!

Is there a requirement that they provide anything if you get stuck in Europe?

You seem to be upset and a little surprised that they are not doing more...do you not work for the airlines?

Cal just upped it to 22 Euro a day extra per diem. Captain no longer pays for everyone. 4:30 flight pay per day or value of missed trips whichever is greater.
I'm getting tired of Copenhagen, but the Hotel is very nice.

Where the heck do you go to eat? I can easily get out of the UK for $25 and thats having a great meal and a couple of beers.

You're on per diem, right? WTF.

Suck it up and enjoy!

If you wanted a 100 percent expense account, you'd have found another line of work!

I always thought it would be pretty cool actually to be "stuck" in Europe for a week. Good time to explore.
The same goes for the European crews hanging out in Cali or New-York...not too bad!

Suck it up... Right... Last year the differants between the goverment daily per diem rate and what CAL paid me in per diem was $11,065.... Yep 11K

Avg goverment per diem rate overseas $120 a day, CAL pays $48...

You do know you can deduct that right? Not that it is the same...but you would get some back.

I would be happy to recommend a tax guy who can help you with that matter.

I think it would take a revolt of all airline employees to help us all with this matter...I wonder if the Euro crews in the US get the full M&IE rate as published by their governments? And what the Euro airlines are doing for their crews.
