How was Cass funded? If the problem with Crewpass is where it gets its funding, why didn't Cass get dragged out also? How was Cass implemented so quickly after 9/11? Finally, why weren't Cass and Crewpass tied together and implemented at the same time?

Cass is about 800/yr/airline

CrewPASS looking to be a minimum of 50/yr/person. The law was written that flight attendants have to be included as well

Huh? So the FA's will have to be put into CASS? ala, FA's will soon be able to jumpseat in the cockpit? Or will they have to come up with their own system for vetting?

CASS is not going to be the medium for crewPASS. They are to different things. Here was the question:

Cass does not mean someone goes to the cockpit,. The would be cabin riders only.

Well, we all know what the letter C in CASS stands for. Many times while jumpseating, the gate agent didn't check me intp CASS because there were plenty of seats in the cabin. CASS isn't necessary for cabin riders.

Have you been through CrewPASS? It uses the CASS database. If your airline doesn't have CASS, then no CrewPASS for you. That is, unless there has been a recent change.

I never understand these government overblown projects...How much fricken money does it REALLY cost to run some CAT 5 out to a designated checkpoint. $100 worth of CAT 5 a $200 netbook does not equal $50/person/month. 1-2 per person would be much more reasonable especially considering that the back-office stuff is already up and running. Somebody is making some serious coin with all these security programs.

Whats that old story about NASA. They spent millions of dollars trying to make a pen that writes in Zero G, the Russians used a pencil.
