"GEORGETOWN — A 70-year-old woman was killed while grocery shopping today when a pickup slammed into the bakery section, police said. A 22-year-old woman was injured. The truck driver was arrested.
Larry Ralph Elliott, 41, of Georgetown drove his 1992 Chevrolet through the parking lot and into the H-E-B at 1100 N. Interstate 35 about 10 a.m., said Georgetown Assistant Police Chief Kevin Stofle.
The truck plowed about 75 feet into the store, striking the two shoppers, Betty L. Davis, 70, and Melissa Merkord, 22.
"The amount of distance that he went through the store — you don't see things like this happen every day," Stofle said
