Full story: http://www.wilmingtonstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040925/APA/409250944&cachetime=5A replica of an antique plane crashed seconds after takeoff Saturday, just missing an airport control tower and slamming into a parked car that had two women inside.
No one was killed, but a man in the plane suffered severe burns.
The 1986 Bushmaster broke apart on impact and erupted in flames, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jerry Johnston.
One man suffered third-degree burns to his legs and hands, and the other person in the plane suffered bruises, Fullerton police Sgt. Steve Matson said. The women in the car suffered minor injuries caused when their air bags inflated, Matson said.
The four were taken to local hospitals. Their names and conditions were not immediately available.
CNN has been running it all day.crash-proof said:Any place we can find that video? I looked around but the best I could find was this article with stills shots of the scene. Miracle they made it out alive.

scary stuff![]()
That actually crossed my mind, if I recall correctly the original tin goose had the rudder cables outside the airframe, don't know if this version had em on the outside as well and if that would be a factor.enigma said:I just watched the video. Did it seem to anyone else that the rudder was hard left when they were in the steep left wing down descent? I wonder if they had a control problem?
Our prayers are with em.

Dang it, dang it, dang it.azpilot said:From what I heard they left the rudder gust lock in place. It sounds like it was a strap like what you use in the back of a pickup truck. This could have also effected elevator control. Thus the short flight.
I guess there is only one left of this type of model still flying.
