The days of 100 seats are short lived. Simply too small for most markets. Mainline will soon be buying up larger and larger aircraft for point to point. Just ride it out.

First there was the Tu-144 "concordski"

Now we have Sukohi's version of the "Embraer 170-ski" which, by the way, is the origional guppy-killer

I heard the same thing about 50-seat regional jets 11 years ago.

What I will bet we'll see happen is that the 100 seat jets begin to replace 50-seat birds 2:1 at slot controlled airports or bigger hubs like oh say...., JFK/EWR/LGA, etc, etc, etc.

Either way, they are not mainline job killers unless we let them be.

Got SCOPE?

Nobody in the West is going to purchase/ride on a Russian Jet anyway.

Got Scope?

I remember a similar comment about Brazilian jets a while back

Embraer broke into the western airliner market as soon as they entered it. (Bandit)

Twenty years on from the collapse of communism, and the Russians have been unable to do the same, primarily because they cannot build an airframe that is remotely competitive. They may have copied Western design configurations, but the fit and finish is crude and the performance not there.

As far as the Canadians go, who do you think flew the first jet transport in the Americas? Name it for bonus points.

That would be the Avro C-102. The original four engined Barbie Jet!
