I forget what the policy is about off topic posts, anyway -

the cost of living is too high, i.e.;

- a cheap wedding costs $20,000 plus

- a christmas tree is $300

- utilities, property taxes, college, rent, insurance, etc...............

it's ridiculous

Where the he!! do you live? My wife and I got married for under $5000 and have never paid more than $40 for a Christmas tree? Are you sure you are looking at dollars and not lira?

who says you need celebrate christmas or get married? A cheap divorce will cost you a lot more than that.

Decent wedding with 120 guests = $8000 in 1999
Honeymoon = $700 also in 1999
Christmas Tree = Nice looking 6 foot Noble Fir = $29.99 @ Home Depot in 2003

lol :D

Cessna turbocharger check valve:
$700.00 (life limited to 1000 hrs)
good craftsmanship, but 700?? come on!
For once I'm glad *I* don't have a turbocharged plane.. :eek:

I agree above..

the wedding #'s sound right (unfortunatly)...unless you just do a big BBQ pig roast with tubs of cold beer!! (My choice - but didnt fly..)

but that $300 christmas tree?? WTF is that about?

For $300 bucks it better come with a naked babe lying under it.

:D

It's not that the cost of living is too high it's just that we as pilots have let our salaries get too **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** low.

100k is not that much money anymore and it is getting harder and harder to break six figures as an airline pilot. I just can't wait for the day that I make as much as Sky Caps...

A decent wedding for some is a ghetto wedding for others. Its all in how you look at things.
We get our tree for free...we just cut and run!!

I got all the trees you need for $269.95! Over 10% savings from those overpriced Christmas Tree Lots. Hurry though, supplies are limited!

Yeah, who cares how much a wedding costs

AMEN

BTW, I threw the Hail Mary and scored. Perhaps you heard me thank Tom a couple of weeks ago on the air. :D

cost of living

Just got back from PI...

Exchange rate: 55.25 : 1

San Miguel in a bar: 60 Pesos

Jeepney ride: 4 Pesos

Decent Hotel: 1200-1800 Pesos

Bar Fine: 1000 Pesos

Noseriding a glassy, empty point break at dawn while your horneyko prepares breakfast.....priceless.

Since I will be retiring in a few years I have been looking at some retirements homes that I could afford. In PVR I found a beautiful place on the water( the ocean) right next to the airport. It is 20 X 20 with grass roof and bamboo walls. The ocean is only 50 feet away and there is running water(a creek) only about 15 feet away. I found the same along the river in Rome, a beautiful view of the city. I was talking to one of our new FA's. She is drop dead beautiful, even my wife agreed with that when she met her. She is from South Africa, her grandmother still lives up in the village, no running water, no electricity, in a place 20 X 20. Guess with my 401k that is where I will be heading when I can't fly anymore. I guess I could join my daughter in Mamfe, Cameroon..she lives in a nice house, with a grass roof and four bedrooms. She says the rats have drag races on the rafters every night. She is happy.
