this morning i woke up, came down stairs, and got an earful from my mother...do you know what your flying is costing me?...um, no...More than you're worth...is that so mom?...yeah, your eduaction costs more than this house you live in...wow, i didn't know...you still owe me a car payment this month...yeah yeah mom, i'll get arround to it...

after that brief argument/misunderstanding, i actually sat down and looked at the bills...and you know, she wasn't lying...i'm worth more than my house...i guess the point of what i'm trying to say, is the cost of College and Flying, is going way up...

not to discurage any newcomers, there are lots of places to get free money, (uncle sam, scolastic grants, ect...) and it can be done...just don't stop looking for the scholarships and such...

Keep your eyes on the prize and you will find the money. It may be hard but you can succeed. Keep the goal in mind and work hard. My training cost alot but it was worth every penny. I ended up getting hired (still waiting for a class date) in the end. Stay the course

Everyone forgets to factor in cost-of-living expenses. You have flights to pay for, classes/books to pay for, then you have food, rent, car insurance, haircuts, etc. That takes a toll.

The best advise I was ever given goes like this…..”The best investment is one you make is in your self”. An education is one of those things that no one can take away. Learning a skill such as you are can provide for you and your family.

Now that you have reviewed the bills, maybe you should do what you can to keep them to a minimum. Help mom out and let her know how much you appreciate everything she is giving up for you. I had to pay for my training out of my pocket. Sure would’ve been nice if someone else would have picked up the tab on that one.

dont forget about all the sacrafices your moms makes when you finally finish all that school, find some CFI job making nothing, then 3 or 4 years later finally get that good airline gig making the big bucks...

oh nevermind.

Think of your aviation education, or any education for that matter, as the gift that keeps on giving. Hahahahaaaahahahahah...

Hey, its always better than trying to be a musician.
Um... not necessarily. I was a professional musician before becoming a pilot, and made more money gigging that I do now. Of course, that will change next year when I'm on second year payscale. Plus, I was home every night, even though it would usually be pretty late.

Just throwing out a different perspective.
