Agreed
Definitely go after the internships on your own. I interned at a large FBO, an aviation museum and a fractional. They (Riddle career services DAB) were not interested in helping me find an internship during my freshman and sophomore years, so I created my own at the FBO & museum and then applied for and received credit when they were over. The fractional internship was advertised through the career services office (the reps interviewed about 30 and chose 2 of us) and I almost missed out on it due to the office's inattention to detail and lack of following through on what they had promised to do for me (filling out and sending paperwork on time, etc). I strongly suggest that you be proactive and find and/or create one on your own. I basically sent letters to the key figures where I wanted to work, got called for an interview and showed up with a 'how can I help you with a problem you may have' attitude and it worked out great that way.
