i know the NBAA was urging corporate flight departments to develop internship programs, but is anyone out there aware of any? i know there's some out there, but Riddle really doesn't cater to corporate internships like they do to ACA (funny how they're not hiring...sounds like a sophistimacated mouse trap or somethin')

i graduated from Riddle a couple years ago and i know they did have a few corporate internships (i can remember texaco and a there were a few others out of white plains, ny) Visit career services--they should have lots of time for you--and they should be able to get you some more info.
These positions are all non-flying but it could be your foot in the door. Good Luck

Don't wait for Riddle to find you an internship. Send out resumes and follow up to corporate flight departments. The NBAA Directory has all the contact info you need (its in the library). Texaco had one before they merged with Chevron (now they're in Calif now I think). Phillip Morris has one as does Westchester Air (135 operator). I did one with IBM for a few summers and tried to set something up with Riddle, but it didn't stick. If you want some more info please PM me. Where are you looking and where do you live? I can tell you it was the best experience I've had so far.

Only problem with visiting Career Services- Prescott is that they are not interested in getting you a corporate internship. They always tried pushing their flavor of the month inetrnship (usually ACA or ASA) and refused helping me on a corporqate one. I agree with the above post, do it on your own.

Agreed

Definitely go after the internships on your own. I interned at a large FBO, an aviation museum and a fractional. They (Riddle career services DAB) were not interested in helping me find an internship during my freshman and sophomore years, so I created my own at the FBO & museum and then applied for and received credit when they were over. The fractional internship was advertised through the career services office (the reps interviewed about 30 and chose 2 of us) and I almost missed out on it due to the office's inattention to detail and lack of following through on what they had promised to do for me (filling out and sending paperwork on time, etc). I strongly suggest that you be proactive and find and/or create one on your own. I basically sent letters to the key figures where I wanted to work, got called for an interview and showed up with a 'how can I help you with a problem you may have' attitude and it worked out great that way.

Go to www.nationjob.com/aviation

I saw 2 adds there yesterday for Interns. If I remember correctly they were for Raytheon in Fullerton, CA. They were not flying positions. You have to go through a little info giving at that site, but they are there. PM me if you (or anybody) has trouble finding it!
