Depends where you want to go... if your number choice in the regional arena hires a lot of GA/flight instructing pilots (i.e ExpressJet, Eagle, etc), I would wait for that. If it is somewhere else you want, Part 121 turbine time opens pretty much all doors to the regionals (interview at least).

The J32 builds character

If you go to the right seat of a jet, you'll be there a while. Go the right seat of a jetpig, well it won't be as long before upgrade. 1,000 121 PIC is a golden number if you want to get to big metal. IF being the key word. Regionals aren't that bad of a place to hang your hat anymore.

The Jetstream will teach you a lot. Way more than an RJ. But, have your long term goals in mind when you make your decision.

About 3 years to 1,000 pic in a jetstream, on average. faster if your timing is right. Not sure about the RJ.

BTW- How are things going there these days? Any sign of improvement? I'm pulling for you guys/gals.

I'd have to agree with Shamrock on this one. The mentality of getting an interview with SWA the day you log your 1001st hour of turbine PIC is pretty absurd. No doubt the J32 will mold you into an outstanding pilot, but if you have the hours to try for a bigger regional now...give it a shot at least.

1000 pic

Of course 1000 pic means something. It may be the end all be all of qualifications, but it's still really important.

Try getting that SWA job without, you wont. It's kinda like a high school diploma, nothing magic happened when you got that, but your not getting far past flippin' burgers without it.

I say get it as fast as possible.

Hey Belch (and any other current 3Cers that remember the good ole days in LAF):

Any hiring going on at MQY these days? I remember a bunch of FOs (and CAs) bailing to greener pastures a few months back. If I don't have any other options come spring, I figure I'll send Burley a resume along with a copy of my "furlough" letter. Nothing may come of it, but I'll never know if I don't play the game. If nothing else, I might have some good drinkin' partners for a few months while I "build time". What's the upgrade down to these days, and whats the required TT? FOs ever get that oft-rumored pay increase?

I figure I might fly the jball for a year or two then try to find a King Air job somewhere, what would be ya'lls advice on this?

MQY is Hiring....if you really want to go there

BoilerUP;
Don't send your resume to Burley, he's gone on to greener pastures. They have hired some (two classes of 8), but not all have made it through Looneyworld, so they may be hiring more. If you feel driven to fly, though, send a resume to Adam. No raises are in the works for a while, though, as the dreaded "U" word rumor has become a factor. They legally can't offer raises until after the vote. The company did miss their last payroll for hourly employees, though. A "bank error" or perhaps a payroll processing error (they have two brand new people doing the payroll). Bllsht.

That status quo bulls@#t that they are spewing is not exactly true, it is just a scare tactic that they use to scare everyone. If they wanted to unfreeze the pay here, it is well within their right to do so.

It doesn't matter, its not like they would unfreeze the pay here anyhow. Might as well stick it to them.

10early,

Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate it. When is the vote, and who is the union? Best of luck to you guys and gals...
