This thread was born out of my interest to know just how commonplace it is for corporate flight attendants to land SIC jobs with very low time.

I ask because a friend of mine was telling me how she has met a few corp F/Os who were once corp F/As that got hired with less than 500TT because of their connections made as F/As. (Playing the minority card, I believe they were all women, but I can't say for sure.) They went out and got their ratings while flying as F/As, then segwayed into a right seat job. At present my pal has less than 350TT and is focusing on building Duchess time to become more 'competative' and is hoping to break into the right seat as those (few) others did. Of course it must be inspiring in her shoes to think that may happen for her too, but how realistic is such a lucky break???

Usually a corp plane with a F/A is a GIV/GV/GLEX type of equip.

To have one of the pilots have 500TT or less in small piston stuff??

NO THANKS.

I have heard of it happening in the past, I just dont know anyone or any companies myself that do this! (Glad mine does not)

1500TT, a new ATP, and being a sharp guy/gal...OK sure - maybe we can work with that...but 500TT...nah.

PLUS. BOTH pilots need Type Ratings to go Intl. GV/GLEX tend to do a lot of Intl. flying....

Can a 500TT guy pass a type ride? SIC sim checks dont cut it!

Yes it has happened. I know personally one guy that was hired with less than 1000 hrs into the right seat of a GII. I was at an airline that for years that put less than 1000 hr pilots into the right seat of a 727. Many of those pilots went on to become Captains with no problems at all. Yes who you know is still VERY important. I am sorry there are just too many pricks out there with "TONS" of flight time. Many companies feel more comfortable hiring a great personality with minimal flight time and simply molding them into their operations. It's not that hard.
