Good video. The T-6 was developed from the Swiss PC-12. However, if you want to the "the next generation", do a google search for "PC-21" and look at that turboprop monster! I hear the Aussies are considering it, although it is may more $$ than they want to spend.

With the student / instructor proximity, no more catching a quick cat-nap, or better yet, having the instructor fall asleep during an instrument sim.

The t6 runs laps around the tweet...I was crusing back to recovery from the area yesterday showing 300 kts gs on the gps not even at full power after an hour in the area and STILL had 650 lbs gas left...the tweet could only dream of being able to do this. And yes, Ive got a few hours in the tweet so I can compare.

Don't think of it as a prop: think of it as an "unducted fan".

haha yeah..we takeoff with 1100 pounds...real fuel efficiency! Typically land after a 1.5 sortie with around 500 or so lbs.

Ah, those were the days. I had 1 EP in the T-6 and wouldn't you know, it was on my 2nd solo. I had come back from some aero in the MOA to do some pattern work and after calling gas and approaching the perch, I had a gear indicator malfunction (showing all green, all red and the handle lit up at the same time - ever see that Otto?). I wound up going around the high pattern with the gear hanging for about another hour waiting for a chase ship to check me out. I think I landed with around 250lb of gas. It's not very comforting to see the fuel flow meter at 350lb/hr with less than 150lb in each wing.

Ouch...yeah never had that one yet personally! One of my buddies in my class had the same indications on a dual flight at the perch and the IP took it and did the same thing..up to the high pattern and was able to cycle it and worked like normal the second time around. We have however had 3 folks overspeed their gear on initial solo ha.


To be honest I'm more concerned about oil problems in this plane..too many have occurred in the t6...its ok though if you keep positive G's on it so I'm told.

Just about. They had a CT mission out in the MOA with two IP's and wound up meeting me in the pattern. It was probably more like 35-40 minutes, but by the time I had landed, it was 1+ hours from the time I told the RSU I had a problem. It was the end of the day and I believe I was one of the last sorties in the air.
