Vintage working aircraft

Pete Fusco would smile, especially for the C-46s. So would Ernest Gann, were he still alive.

People oftentimes forget that many classic/vintage airplanes are still working hard, primarily because they are still the best equipment for the mission. Moreover, NDB approaches are still the only instrument approach procedures available in these areas. So many newer pilots scoff at NDBs and declare that these approaches are obsolete. In many parts of the work, the ability to accurately execute an NDB approach is a measure of airmanship.

Good article.
