That does sound like an altimeter vibrator. On some 727's they are extremely loud. So loud that it's typical to pull the altimeter vibrator circuit breakers once you are parked.
sounds like the dirt runway to me. altimeter vibrators can be loud but not at Vr. Surely not the stickshaker. I doubt they even work on those planes anyway, lol. I've worked with a few people who worked there. Interesting stories.
Yea the sound of the trim wheel on the 727 is louder than other cockpit noises , but that sound sounded like it was continuous throughout the short clip of the takeoff roll/rotation. Kinda sounded like altimeter vibrators (yes I have heard them in the 72) combined with the sound of taking off on a rough dirt strip and assorted other bangs/clicks/etc?....I'd hope they would set the stab. before takeoff and not during the roll?.....Anyone else?.....
More than likely it was a logbook clipboard-can or perhaps the photographer's camera case rattling in response to the rough runway, which probably contained plenty of rocks.
It could not have been the trim wheel running continuously like that, although it did sound an awful lot like it. If it had been the trim, it would have been way out of the takeoff range by the time the movie clip ends.
Over on pprune, in the Africa forum, there's a thread about Trans-Afrik that explains who this guy is in the video. All I can say is that I am not worthy...and will not live long enough to be THAT worthy. Anyone who flies 300 hours a month in those conditions should never buy his own beer...ever !!
