Just a hypothetical. Assume one is employed abroad. Europe, Asia, India, wherever. During training, your FAA certificate is converted to a foreign license and you get a type rating on that foreign license.

How would you go about getting that type put on your FAA ticket?

If you want just an SIC only type rating, you can provide the FAA with a copy of your training records and they will issue the type.

If you want the full PIC type rating, then you have to do a complete training program and type ride in the US. Probably the best you can get is some kind of short course from the training provider, but you are still looking as some serious cash.
