Can anyone give me some clue as to what's involved in this process? Cost? Duration? Difficulty? Just about anything would be more than I know. Thanks!
 
No cost. Your FAA ATP is an ICAO ATP license. (unless it says "The certificate holder does not meet ICAO requirements" but almost you'd know that already).
 
To convert from an FAA license to a JAA license you have to take/pass 14 theorhetical exams and then take a LST (license skills test). Plan to spend 2-3 months full time on the exams. The cost is significant as well. I did it last summer, feel free to PM me with any questions
