It seems like lately I've overheard or been on the receiving end of controllers being very unfriendly about clarification requests. If in doubt, we're supposed to ask.... but I've heard some very stern responses to clarifications of headings, altitudes, landing clearances lately. And its not directed towards pilots who are being a pain or unprofessional... just everyone.

Whats the deal? If we're asking for a clarification, we're doing our best to ensure clearances are followed, things are as safe as possible, etc.... cut us some slack guys.

Maybe the next time I miss a transmission, I'll respond with "say again, I was on the landline"

All depends on where you are if you ask me.

Appreciate the US controllers, they ARE the best in the world. Do whatever you can to support them, have you ever been to some airport with private ATC, we have a great system in the states, don't take my word for it, go visit another country.

Well I'm not going to argue with you, however, in my personal opinion the controllers in London are some of the, if not the most professional controllers in the world. Then again, nobody can beat ORD controllers as the totally best all around controllers in the world.

Okay, I have to add that the folks at the New York City TRACON come in a real close second.
