Has anyone ever heard of a contract pilot referal agency? What I mean by that is a company that helps people find contract pilots when they need them, and helps contract pilots find work.

Oddly enough, I know someone who is investigating the feasability of this very thing. Their concept is a small office that maintains a stable of contract pilots, and which actively pursues contracts with Corporate and Charter operators on behalf of their pilots for a percentage. The representing agency would establish a minimum rate for pilot positions based on seat, aircraft size, etc. which would hopefully diminish the potential for the low-balling that often goes on among guys trying to eat and stay current and CFIs or part-timers who would kill for some turbine multi time (like me :D).

So I'd be interested, also, to know whether or not the more experienced pros think something like this would work? I assume other companies have thought of it, or are already doing it?
