Continental has reason to smile, and be proud. The carrier was not only named 2004 Airline of the Year by the Official Airline Guide (OAG), but Continental walked off with Best Executive/Business Class and Best Airline Based in North America prizes as well. Continental is the first North American carrier to snatch Airline of the Year since the prize was first issued in 1982. Often called the Oscars of the airline industry, the OAG awards are based on votes by frequent fliers around the world who subscribe to the firm's print and electronic travel products. "The people of Continental have worked together consistently for more than a decade to provide the best service you can get from an airline," said chairman and CEO Gordon Bethune.
