In fact, we already have two sections with Tentative Agreements:

Missing, Internment, Hostage, POW Benefits and,
Dues Check-off

The order they will be working on things now is:
  • Misc. Flying
  • Leaves of Absence
  • Discipline and Discharge
  • Non-Disciplinary Grievances
  • System Board
  • Physical Exams
  • Worker's Comp.
  • Seniority
  • Reduction in Force, Furlough, Recall
  • Moving Expenses
  • Deadhead
After that they will start on the "cornerstone" and major economic items -- Compensation, Scope, Retirement & Benefits, Scheduling/Work Rules/PBS, etc.

its time for the pilots to get active
Simplest way to get involved without major calorie expenditure is to:
  1. Read your current contract.
  2. Send what you don't like and want changed or added to [email protected] along with your name and BES.
  3. CC your Reps on each email so they are aware of what you want/need as well. (Their emails are all available on the CAL ALPA website)
  4. Make sure your, and one other pilot's contact info is up to date with ALPA. You won't get polled if it isn't.
  5. Talk with your fellow pilots.
  6. Wear your ALPA pin in the middle of your tie.

"The statement was released by the airline."

That says it all.

The release of this "news" is spin to counter the NWA announcement of more pay for the pilots. Contract negotiations at CAL were opened over a month ago. Yesterday two sections were announced done already.

With NWA pilots forcing time-and-half for everything above 80 hours, CAL doesn't want their pilots getting the same idea. With line divisors in the upper 80 range it would be expensive.

CAL continues to use Voluntary Junior Manning which targets certain days to pay time-and-half for open time pickup. So far, it has worked to get them through the summer.

The article he quoted was from July 2nd. So no spin to counter the NWA "announcement."

The article came out after NWA canceled a ton of flights the end of June.

I'll concede that but he said it was "spin" to NWA announcement they were going to pay their pilots more. Which came out almost a month after "our" announcement came out.

I think they are saying that the CAL news was released almost a month before the NWA agreement was finalized. If some of these a**holes would stop picking up open time, maybe we could have our own announcement.
