If awarded the new route, Continental plans to operate the flight daily with a Boeing 777 aircraft with 283 seats. The flight would depart Newark Liberty at 11:50 a.m., arriving in Shanghai mid-afternoon the following day at 2:05 p.m. The return flight would depart Shanghai in the late afternoon at 4:05 p.m. and arrive at Newark Liberty in the evening of the same day at 6:30 p.m. These flights would offer connecting service between Shanghai and over 75 cities served through Continental's Newark Liberty hub.

We get your message, you want that route, great. This press release doesn't say anything besides they WANT to have the route and they EXPECT it. Yippie.

How about you pay to advertise on this site, like all the other companies whose advertiesments you see?!

On year one pay it is hard enough to make the cobra payments let alone buy advertising! There is nothing wrong with optimism. Go Cal.

At least we are in the running. I think last week you came on here tooting your horn how you guys have a great shot at this award, even mentioning you have two 777's coming to fly this route. And after all that you did not even know that Delta was not even in the running. A little sour grapes maybe? I understand your enthusiasm about your airline, but get your facts straight.

Good luck to us all

My personal opinion is that no airline that has put/or will be putting unnecesary burden on the taxpayers of the USA should automatically be removed from consideration. That leaves American and Continental in the running. But I have no say.

Well if we go by your rules, shouldn't Continental never be allowed to bid again seeing as they filed TWICE?

In all seriousness, I think it will go to UA. IAD-PEK will look good. Besides, they need it more than CO does.

Washington Dulles to China vs New York City area to China??

Seems like a no brainer to me - CAL hands down. Plus the chinese don't have to deal with bitter-rude-unhappy flight attendants & connect via IAD.

There is a difference between pushing your pensions off on the PBGC which will eventually need a taxpayer bailout because of lack of funding and screwing your shareholders. UAUA has screwed thier employees and should not be rewarded for it. What kind of example would that be setting?

Oh please. The PBGC is a corporation that doesn't even touch tax payer money. If ANYONE breaks it, it will be Ford or GM. Now UA, NW, or DL.

Your theory is just a little stupid.

Please re-read my post. I never said the PBGC is funded with taxpayer dollars. It will, in the future, need to be bailed out by taxpayers just like the S&L, our future Medicare, and future Social Security.
