Does anyone how helpful letters of recommendation are for getting interviews? And, is there a stigma attached to recommendation letters from guys/gals hired in the scab era?

Applicants with letters of recommendation are "heavily weighted".

Just a little friendly information. The guy in charge of hiring crossed the picket line. Does that answer your question?

Serious???

I dont know anyone who works at CAL, but I need to get a letter of rec as well. Any ideas? Sorry for raiding the thread.

I would like to get in touch with anyone from XJ 1996-1999, who are now at Continental for a reference. Especially if you were DTW based.
I flew the DHC + SAAB.

P.M. me

Thanks.

Yeah, I just checked the list, and he is on there.
I don't know what to think, you have to get the approval from a scab to get in.

Fortunately, I also verified that my sponser is NOT on the list!

Perhaps you should not apply? Better yet, let him know how you feel and have the backbone to back up your convictions during the interview. The last thing we need on the property is more internal strife.

Hold your comments. My pin has a star on the top.

Granted, but it still doesn't make it right. Don't characterize all scabs as being in the same boat. Some were CAL pilots who crossed while others were picket-crossers whom never worked at CAL before. The point is, if you know the guy is a scab, take the time to find out something about them before you pass judgement. Most know what they did was wrong and would not do it again.

Thank you Neal. My only hope is that someday this pilot group can have the cohesion and unity our XJET brothers showed and demonstrate daily. Congrats on your contract.

CALALPA really missed the boat splitting the MEC losing you guys.

I actually agree with you. In fact, I think very highly of the guy. I don't care about what happened 22 years ago. My concern is for the future of the airline and those pilots coming on board today.
