Got this in an e-mail today, thought I'd pass it on...

From the Continental.com website:

Thank you for your interest in joining the Continental team.
Continental anticipates the need to hire a significant number
of pilots during the second half of 2005.

The following are the minimum qualifications to apply for a
pilot position:

1,500 hours fixed-wing total flight time
1,000 hours fixed-wing PIC time, or 500 hours PIC time and
500 hours SIC time in a turbojet
1,000 hours fixed-wing turbine time
1,000 hours fixed-wing multi-engine time (civilian or
military) or 1,000 hours single-engine military fighter jet
time
Successful completion of the ATP written exam
A current first class FAA medical
A Bachelor's degree is highly desired

Continental's online application process is maintained by
AirlineApps.com. If you are already a member of the
AirlineApps system, sign in to your account and add
Continental to your target listing
<https://www.airlineapps.com/account/acct_login.asp>. New
applicants should create a new AirlineApps.com account
<https://www.airlineapps.com/account/acct_new_pilot.asp> to
apply.

notice college degree highly desired, but not required

Completely Unrelated to Thread - Please Pardon

CAL Hiring, Awesome.

Now for my real, albeit unrelated question. What does "bump" mean when it is the only word in someone's post? I've seen this often and have not been able to figure it out. Thanks for your replies.

See how many get hired without one.

Ravi, bump is used to move the thread back to the top of the page. If someone has nothing to add but wants the thread to remain at or near the top of the page they will periodically post "bump" simply to keep it there.

people put bump to get the thread back up on the new threads and get people to read and respond. they BUMP it up the list.

I knew it wouldn't take too long for you to mention that. :D

Trust me, you really don't want to get that subject going. Fins and surplus1 will get going and the thread will never stop. :) Just trust me on this one and PM me if you're really interested and not just flame baiting.

Think about it...your future co-workers can't think of an intelligent thing to say, so they write the word "bump" in a post.

In the future, when you meet them in person, you'll know who they are when they use words like, "huh", "duh" and "doh" on a regular basis.

Also if they don't say anything for a while, one of them will suddenly say "Bump".

i got that in my bulk mail. no clue how or why
More than likely because you've already put a pilot application in for one of the other airlines that airlineapps.com hosts, such as Sprit, Mesa, and a few others I noticed on their exit page.

For $50 you can let your app be seen by all those airlines and recruiters can contact you at will, or for nothing, you can target just ONE specific airline (Continental).

Either way, once you're in their system I'm sure they bulk email everyone for new positions when they come available as part of their "service". Long d*mn application too...

Thanks for the info guys.

LMAO
