Continental Airlines buzzes NYC

Hey...I just got back from a trip to Europe and a friend told me that a few days ago a Continental 76? going into EWR with a planeful of returning troops requested and received permission to fly over NYC at 3000'. Apparantly scared the crap out of a lot of pedestrians. Anyone hear about this or is it extremely exagerated... Can't believe ATC would allow something like that.

Look back at the posts for earlier this week. It was an overflight of the Statue of Liberty, pre-arranged with the FAA.

OOHH OK...I figured I didn't have the whole story...I probably just participated into twisting it all around....In a couple of days it will probably be heard as a near miss with the empire state building.
