I have noticed that on FI and other aviation forums there are many complaints about aviation overall but I wonder how many people are actually doing something about it so I decided recently to contact my local congressman and as many others as I could find and I complained about the sad state of aviation including debts incurred to become a pilot and how the student loan companies are having there way with all of us but are still being bailed out, low salaries across the board, and also the state of the regional airlines with low time pilots with even lower pay scales. Please take a minute to call your local congressmen and the congressmen where you have either lived in the past or where you did your flight training. This industry is going down the drain, and it will continue to do so until people stand up and attempt to do something about it.

hmm

You could have probably saved 20G if you would have learned at the local airport and had a job during that time period. Part of this is up to the individual. Its not up to the Government. If you did the research you would have known that regional sic's make 20g a year and that it would take a long time to make any real money in the business. This stuff hasn't changed in the 20 ish years I have been in the business.

For starters I do not work at a regional, I can not afford to work at one the pay is far too low. Second I have done my research, as far as the reasons no one makes money in this industry is people willing to accept jobs for such low pay. Finally people who do not do anything are exactly the reason why there is no money in this business.

For starters I do not work at a regional...

If you did you would have seen the USA Today in the last weeks, which has had several articles about low pay and that they pay needs to be raised.

ALPA puts out action alerts all the time concerning issues important to pilots. All a pilot has to do is point, click and fill his information in and participation is still poor. Good luck if it involves anything other than absolute minimal effort on the part of a typical airline pilot.

WASHINGTON -- House lawmakers said Thursday they planned to draft legislation designed to improve commuter-airline safety, responding to the Feb. 12 crash near Buffalo, N.Y., that killed 50 people.
The legislation will address various issues that have arisen in the investigation into the commuter-airline crash, including low pay for pilots, pilot fatigue, minimum training standards and aircraft inspections, said Rep. Jerry F. Costello (D., Ill.), chairman of the aviation subcommittee of the House Transportation Committee.
