Anyone know how difficult it is to persuade an employer, if not the flight school an airline to fund a master's degree?

I've still got around 24 hours to finish my BS, but I'm trying to look ahead. My thinking is that if I can further my credentials it will open more doors; and why not do so if it's funded by the employer?

Some companies will pay for an MBA. You just have to scope them out. You probably have to be there for years before you can be considered.

In my $0.02 opinion, I wouldn't hold my breath for the airlines. For one thing, I would doubt they'd buy an MBA for a pilot. The airlines have no trouble recruiting MBAs from such places as Wharton and Harvard Business School for corporate-level jobs.

Finally, I really rather doubt that a flight school will send you for an MBA. Aside from the boss not wanting a subordinate to have more education than he/she, having that level of education is not really necessary to run a flight school.

Good luck with your plans.

So it’s basically a long shot, okay thanks.

I worked for a company that paid what a scholarship did not cover for my MBA. I will tell you that I went to work in a job where the skills I learned were immediately applied.

I would not expect an employer to send a pilot for an MBA any more than I would expect my current employer (where I hold a job in finance) to send me for a type rating in a Gulfstream. Generally, companies invest in employees expecting a return on that investment. If you spend all your time in a cockpit, the company will have a hard time recovering the cost of an MBA.

Get a good corporate job and you'll be set. Many Fortune 500 companies provide education benefits to all employees. An MBA can definitely benefit a pilot if your goal is to run the company's flight department.

It can be done...

....If you work for a University with a 141 school such as UND, Illinois, Purdue, Ohio St. etc.... I have a friend who got the whole shebang for free...all 2 years....so...he's got that goin for him...which is nice.

Gotta love Caddyshack.:D

Cessna and Learjet used to pay for it, don't know for sure now. My wife left Lear about 3 yrs ago, she was considering getting her MBA with them footing the bill.
