By Associated Press
HONOLULU (AP) _ Hawaiian Airlines is set to hold a news conference tomorrow to mark its exit from bankruptcy.

The airline filed for bankruptcy protection in March of 2003.

The end of bankruptcy means Hawaiian President Mark Dunkerley will take over as chief executive as trustee Joshua Gotbaum steps down.

Hawaiian will be paying out 246 (m) million dollars it owes to about eleven-hundred creditors.

Under Hawaiian's reorganization plan, creditors will receive 100 percent of the value of their claims and existing stockholders get to keep their shares. Unionized employees have new contracts.

Hawaiian Airlines is the nation's 12th largest carrier, with 135 daily flights. It is also one of the largest employers in Hawaii with more than 33-hundred workers.

HONOLULU -- After two years, Hawaiian Airlines officially emerged from bankruptcy Wednesday.

Employees gathered to celebrate as the airline announced that reorganization has made it stronger and better.

"So Hawaiian enters this new day a self-confident company. We're very proud of our heritage. We're very proud of what we've accomplished over 75 years and over the last two years," Hawaiian Airlines' new Chief Executive Officer Mark Dunkerley said.

Bankruptcy trustee Joshua Gotbaum passed a maile lei to airline president and CEO Dunkerley to signify the end of bankruptcy.

Dunkerley told employees Hawaiian must continue to work hard to remain competitive in a fierce airline industry.

The Honolulu-based airline filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in March 2003.
