I posted this on another thread where Pinnacle was getting slammed. I figured hell? If I really want the good answers I better ask the regional forum:

So is Pinnacle the new worst company to work for? Is pay the issue? Aren't there tons of regional airlines that pay poorly?
I'm so freakin confused on this. One day everybody's slammin on Mesa and the next Pinnacle. Isn't pay and QOL the issue with almost all regionals?
How long is the list?
Discuss pilot turnover (is that 'attrition?') I sense that this may be my key to a new understanding. Is high turn over good or bad for pay and QOL? My guess would be bad?!! Maybe that allows for a company to grow like a virus and to love having high turnover to keep overhead down.

well right now I wouldn't want anything to do with the Redtail family so I would say XJ is the worst with 9e a close second. But that will change one way or another soon enough. Mesa and Blowjets will always suck in my book though

A regional is a regional, they all will suck at some point. I went to pinnacle becuase I live in Detroit. Pay sucks for F/o's but you get good time if that is what you are looking for. Living in base i actually enjoy it here, reserve was not that bad because if you don't work, you are home. I have a line now with 12 days off and no more than a 3 day trip. My take on this airline is that if you live in base, you can enjoy it, if you commute, I have heard from more than one pilot its a pain in the ass, and that you are never home. With the decision of NWA looming, a lot of people have left because they are scared. I can't say that i blame them, but the same thing could happen to any regional at any time, so you are better off in my opinion going for the best quality of life you can find and just stay there .

ROFLMAO...oh that's priceless!

Newbie here. I have a chance to interview soon enough with a regional. Personally I don't feel comfortable applying with such low times that I currently have. (800 total and a little less than 100 multi) I want to build another 300 hrs and do some freight flying. What are the minimums to get on with freight company flying Barons, Caravans or the such. I've heard that you build great experience doing this type of flying. Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong forum.

Are you saying you're happy with 12 days off? Hope not.

Having only been with the company since august and just getting off reserve, I am happy with 12 days off. I am being realistic right now, I know more will come in the future. Its not going to happen overnight.

SBD with 800tt and 100multi your way more qualified than probably 50% of FNG regional F/Os. But most these guys are right, dont commute, dont live more than 30 min from the airport, and dont expect to like it for more than about 12 months. I would say if your young enough you might want to reconsider what your getting into. If you really want to try it out than have at it, we have plenty of room down here in looserville.
