Does anyone know how to remove, from a Windows computer, the items that the computer has memorized for you, like names, e-mail titles, addresses, files saved names, etc, etc.
Nearly impossible to remove ALL traces of those things once you've entered them, but you can get rid of a good chunk.
Internet Options > Content Tab > AutoComplete
Clear that out
Internet Options > General Tab > Delete Temp Files
Internet Options > General Tab> Delete Cookies
That gets rid of the stuff on the surface. Next, you gotta remove stuff from your Window's directory, mainly Temp files, Temporary Internet files, and Cookies.
It also depends on what programs have saved stuff. What I've given you is an ok start. Something like Norton Cleansweep (or whatever Norton utility it is these days) may be able to help more.
There may also be registry entries that you need to remove. I'm not an expert on that.
You may be able to find more information by doing a Google search.
If you can save files to a removeable medium, or otherwise transfer them out of the computer in question, reformatting and reinstallation can do a lot of good.
A windows cleaning utility should do a passable job, though.
If you are giving away a computer or trading it to someone, then a wipe and reinstall is in order.
