I downloaded software for a VPN. When I try and log in through my Win XP machine and my wifi connection, I get a login error. When I log in via dial up on my XP machine I can get in just fine.
When I log in via my wifi connection using a Win 98 machine, I can get in just fine.

There has got to be something within XP that is preventing me from logging in correctly while using a wifi connection.

Any network guys out there have a clue?

Is it by any chance the Cisco VPN software?

Some VPN programs will not connect over wifi, but will connect fine over ethernet or dialup. It's usually an option on the server side that is almost always set.

Would this happen to be the DeltaVPN software that DeltaTechnology finally released to the b*stard children? If so, the only thing that I can think of that might be interfering with your connection would be a firewall or other internet protection setup. Without being able to examen your machine, it's difficult to deduce what could be the issue.

What is the exact message when you get the 'login error'?

The exact message is "Login Failed, please verify the information entered is correct."

The same problem is happening on my roommates machine. There has to be somthing within XP that is preventing things from working correctly. I can get on via dial-up on my machine, or through the same wifi network on my other roomates Win 98 machine.

Did you turn off the built in firewall in Win XP?

The router needed a firmware upgrade.. Life is good again!
