Well, it's happened.

I've lost my wife and daughter due to divorce... a marriage and a family I could not save despite all my efforts.

I'm losing my house and my good name because I can't pay the bills on the measily salary I make with ASA. No one wants to buy the house after 5 months on the market. Creditors don't care about my situation. No one cares to help.

And now, I've lost my job. After a confrontation with 'duty-in' guy at Ops and a drug nurse stronghanded by the company to write me up for a misunderstanding, management has decided that I am an expendable resource.

In the past 6 months, I've lost everything dear to me. I have no family, no friends, no money, no job and no hope. All I can do is listen to sad music and contemplate the inevitable.

*sigh*

I don't know if I can go on anymore... The pain is too much to bear and after having lost everything, I've not on which to cling.

I'm completely lost.

ATL,

Many of us have been where you are right now. The aviation industry strains marriages as we often chase jobs and are gone for periods of time.

1. Hire a divorce attorney, if you have not already done so, one who specializes in fathers rights. You will want to be part of your daughters future.

2. Dump the house. If its been on the market with a realtor, consider an auction - WilliamsAuction.com do not default .

3. Get to work - fall on your 'backup plan - which ALL pilots should have'...

4. You have YOUR immediate side of the family for support, and FRIENDS you may have not considered or overlooked.

5. DO NOT drink to forget the pain. Get out, run, walk, bike, work out.

6. TIME HEALS ALL WOUNDS. Don't stay negative, and don't consider bad things... it will improve!

Best Of Luck!

It could always be worse... I am sorry to hear about your misfortune but keep your chin up and try to surround yourself with family and friends who will make this process a little better.

im with super cub...if i wasnt flying, id probably be on the train. get out, away from everything, make some money, and some dam good retirement benefits too ;)

For all those kind-hearted souls who care:

I've calmed down a bit.

Although the union is confident that my job can be restored, this entire experience has put a sour taste in my mouth for ASA. I've just submitted resumes to AirTran and Southwest. I'm not expecting much luck with the volume of people vying for a spot, but I love my job too much to just walk away from the industry.

However, that's about the only positive thing going for me. I'm still sleeping in an empty bed (which is hard for a hopeless romantic/cuddle bug) and the bill collectors are still calling every day. I'm not quite sure how I'll handle the stress of it all...

Anyway... I thank all of you for your kind words and I humbly ask for your continued thoughts as I struggle to build a new life and discover a new me.

Not trying to be a smart aleck here, but if you got 5 years to kill and are in semi good shape and not too old, there is a place where you can get a new life and identity, learn a new language and new skills.

The French Foreign Legion will shape you up, train you to work as a team player and provide you with a new life and identity. If you are seeking a change and a little bit of adventure, their website is not to hard to find.

Otherwise, good luck with the union getting things sorted out for you, it does seem like really drastic punishment for something that as you said was probably just a misunderstanding. Good luck as well, with the other leads you are pursuing out side of ASA!

I can't offer any help or wisdom with the house/divorce thing, other than keep your head up...it's a tough situation, but you can only expect to find better times ahead as long as you keep your cool!

whoa, thats it...im out

Good luck man! You just need to keep your chin up, good things will happen.

:)

Dude...

Look up a company called NetJets... they fly great stuff and are hiring. With your creds, should not be a problem. And there are some hotties that work there (I am judging by the few I met). And they fly famous folks all over the globe.

Good luck... and being single ain't too bad in my opinion (lots of options out there).

Maybe my memory is deceiving me, but I seem to recall that ATL2CDG is a flight attendant, so the net jet suggestion won't be much help.

Are you saying they don't have flight attendents? I beg to differ!

UUUhhh, I dunno ... do they? I'd generally (perhaps incorrectly ) associated Net-jets with smaller aircraft, citations, lears etc. I suppose that if they have larger aircraft like challengers and gulfstreams then they would have flight attendants.

What aircraft do they operate with flight attendants?
Are flight attendants required by regulation for non commercial ops?

My info is from the two flight attendents that I know who work for NetJets.

Yes they do, and yes they have union and non-union sides of the company (if that was your question). They have to cater to some big wig types, which sounds cool to me, but they tell me it can be a pain in the arse. They like the fact that they travel all around the world, with all kinds of folks.

My friends fly in the Gulfstream IV and V (I think). The site says they have other jets... even a Boeing. I am waiting for them to open a helo wing! I would apply in a heartbeat.

All said, the folks were laid back, and the company (in their words) is fantastic.

Good luck and let me know if you need more info.

good luck and hang in there ..... and remember that change is inevitable, except from a vending machine

there's lots of us who have gone thru a divorce and lost every thing it's going be rough, but it will be worse if you don't keep your chin up luck

20 years ago when my fiance left me I made a tape of sad songs, which I almost wore out. It took me a few years to get over her, but now I occasionally take out and play that tape...It always makes me feel better now.

Whether you end up coming back to ASA or not, you do have friends...talk to them, let them help you....
