Complementary Alcohol for Military

I was wondering how many people have, or have seen their Captains comp liquor or beer for military personnel going or returning from Iraq or Afghanistan?

I have seen it a few times and think they really appreciate it.

Yeah.. believe it or not I did it. Two marines.

I failed to tell them about Sqwkvfr's signature, however I did tell them that I was a big pansy liberal, but still appreciated their service.

All differences aside we had a good time out drinkin.

I too had the opportunity to comp some drinks for some military folks. They all graciously declined, because of some rule about drinking within 50' of any aircraft.
I felt bad about it, but understood their plight.

I thought it was the pilot who was prohibited from drinking within 50' of the aircraft.

Coming home from the first Gulf War on a fully loaded World Airways DC-10, the bar opened courtesy of the crew once we hit the Egyptian border out of Saudi. There were 300+ very happy GIs on that ride.

Unfortunately, drinking in the military has become frowned upon to a rediculous level so it doesn't surprise me that the two grunts declined the offer.

I've been comping to service members since since Thanksgiving 2003. Part of my FA brief is that uniformed service members drink free.

I was told that military were no longer allowed to fly in uniform because they were seen as targets.

anyway, I asked my cousin about that and he told me one time he was running late so he flew home in his uniform and they gave him the first class meal, headphones, and etc.... which i thought was pretty cool.

Had a very happy Marine on one of our flight a couple of months ago. He was in uniform and got very intoxicated before boarding the flight. Clearly he earned it. He was very well behaved just loaded. Good thing we didn't know about it until after we took off. Unfortunately, he spent the flight in the lav getting sick. It was a short flight and his family was at the airport waiting for him. I felt bad because he looked like he had been hit by a truck.

I've tried to pay for coffee, meals, whatever, on trips through ATL and CVG. If I see a soldier, sailor, Marine or airman in line, I'll try to pay for whatever they're buying. The catch has been (a) they have a meal voucher, or (b) someone else beat me to it!

Do what you can when you can. I know they appreciate it. Each time, I was thanked just for making the offer.
