This was received from an acquaintance in DC9 Capt. upgrade training:
"1st day of DC9 school today at the House of Pain. Six Capts paired up with
6 FOs returning from furlough. Fleet Training Capt Rouvet came down for some
hellos and some info on what was going on at NWA. To the letter, he spelled
out to the twelve of us all the widebody deliveries this year and next.
Further, he added that there were going to be a handful of 319s going away.
Without any prodding, he commented on the DC9 by saying (quote), "once
Compass starts picking up the DC9 flying later this year, we'll notice a
reduction in the DC9 fleet". He noted that today we have 110 DC9 a/c flying.
He continued saying that, "by the end of 2008, we'll be down to 80 DC9s".
