xjhawk said:so whats the deal, i thought it was like dead in the water, but some say they will be recalling their pilots into compass? whats the deal, rumors are welcome......just want to know the deal~

News to me: Care to share some info on these 100 aircraft? I don't doubt some are on order, there just hasn't been any public release on any of this. Also, you sure the Q400s are going to Compass? Afterall, there is no scope limit on the turboprops in NWA's contract.YourPilotFriend said:Compass is to be operated in house. It's acxtually a C or D scale pay operated at the mainline. It won;t have the MAIR/PNCL GO overhead. It's basically a mainline operation with pilots under a different contract and they lack scope. The operational costs are very low. Also Compass has over 100 aircraft on order jets and turboprops. The SJET covers regional jets and not turboprops. The Q400 is a 70 seat turboprop.

Diesel-9 said:My guess is they will have up to 24 76 seaters in a few years. Feed the new 5-7 cities (BDL)+ that will have non-stops to Europe with the 757 and -330's. Will have a few furloughed NWA pilots in the left seat and new hires in the right seat.
Blade Runner said:With XJ's sorry excuse for a SLT threatening to liquadate within 2-6 weeks, look for NWA management to hire XJ pilots off the street if and when XJ goes under. Average AVRO Captain has over 15 years with XJ, if they accept they then will be working for Compass at first year salaries.
Tell me this wasn't planned at the highest level of NWA management.
He said he wanted rumors.Occam's Razor said:Nope. It's a separate operating certificate. Nice guess though!
Nope. It's a separate airline that will operate much as PCL did while it was wholly-owned by NWA, Inc. At some point it will be sold (as PCL was) and the profit will go to the mainline, and most certainly, the reorganization investors.
Ok, now you're really off the chart. It will be operated by pilots hired to fly for Compass. It will be separate contract, with some elements of it set by the recently-ratified NWA pilots agreement...namely: The pay rates and access to Compass for furloughed NWA mainline pilots. Read that part carefully! The only pilots who have a contractual right to fly for Compass are currently-furloughed NWA pilots. They can hire directly into captain seats at Compass.
Since NWA is recalling pilots right now, the odds of any currently-furloughed NWA pilots taking a job with Compass are pretty slim, but the provision was negotiated by ALPA in case any furloughed pilots were interested.
True.
Prove it.
True.
True.
NuGuy said:Slight correction to Occam's otherwise correct info: NWA is ATTEMPTING to recall pilots right now. Only about 10 percent of the pilots are accepting recall. Everyone else is defering, going on mil leave or just out and out quitting.
On a more humorous note, the monthly bid for October has cause quite a stir...it seems that, gee, there are not enough pilots to fly the schedule, and with the new "zero-open-time" contract, gosh, even senior pilots are being forced to fly. Only now that it affects senior pilots (oh my!), is there any kind of outcry. What a bummer that the people who voted "yes" are now forced to taste what they baked.
Nu
NWa mailine attrition rate is very high with FO's leaving for other careers. Now they have to bring the DC-9's back from the desert to fill in expansion flying and cover for the Avro's. If the equity gets dumped into the DC most of the seniority list will retire and look for other jobs. It's really a staffing nightmare right now. NWA has already started the ball rolling and will be doing street interviews soon. Caution: if NWA mergers compass now has a large staff.viking737 said:What is the new "zero open time contract"? PBS?
How does it force senior pilots to fly? Can't drop a trip to open time?
Just curious. We (AA pilots) are being told by mgmt all the time how we
are the least productive pilots around...
