Study the Delta interview gouge on mypilotinterview. Grab the book, Mental math for pilots, and brush up on those skills.

That will get the job done.

Interview coming up with Compass. What is best way to prepare for knowledge test?

Thanks,

Hey, best of luck!! Let us know how everything turns out

Cause they're not a regional they're "mainline in waiting". LMAO
No offense to the pilots there, as I know a couple, but I have never understood why Compass is/was treated differently than any other regional. They fly the same amount of people as the 900, but for some reason they needed to switch uniforms when NWA went to Delta, they park all over MSP instead of regional corner, and mainline does their maintanence/ground ops. Oh, and they have the same hiring requirements as mainline as well, right? Do you need a four year degree to go there now?

Answers.

Uniforms - NWA was the only airline to use that funny blue fabric. As the material ran out, it would have cost over $200,000 just to requisition the new material to keep NWA-style uniforms. It was cheaper to switch to black once, and share the same basic materials as Pinnacle and many other uniforms.

Ground Handling - Mainline always handled Compass, gates of sufficient height are limited (in reg'l corner) in MSP aside from the higher C gates, and they're almost always in use. Compass has no ground handling crew.

Maintenence - Not done by mainline. Mostly contracted to STS in MSP. Some Compass employees. They have access to DAL hangars as there is no Compass hangar in MSP.

Hiring Requirements - Very similar, yes a four year degree is required.

Uniforms - I buy that answer.

Ground Handling - They always expand down the C concourse for regional airlines. Why not Compass? All ground handling for Delta Connection is done by Regional Elite now. Why not Compass?

Maintenence - That is kind of my question. Why don't they have their own maintenence/hangar like a normal regional?

Hiring Requirements - Again, why?

Ground handling - I'm pretty sure it was a carry over from the old NWA world. Why it persists, I'm not sure. It might have to do with language in the air services agreement that could have persisted since the sale. To be honest though, aside from the gate space issue, I'm not sure. Since the DAL/NWA merger though MSP is one of the few places that persists.

MX - There is a hangar in SDF, that's where the heavy stuff is done. Compass folks do the work there.

Hiring Requirements - Was in place for the flow originally, now why? The CBA requires ATP minimums for all new-hires. Other requirements are due to management caprice I suppose. Generally, I think the company believes in their process and likes who they get. Not saying its right or wrong, but its how they like it. Market forces may force a change in that eventually.

Even thought Compass was sold to Trans States, Delta still owns the aircraft, although I would need an MBA to explain that arrangement to me.

Also, no flow up for new hires anymore.

They use the Delta pilot interview process.
