Will it ever really happen? Bypass the interview process? I'm left seat at a regional, if I go to Compass it will be a leteral move, but if I can get to NW in a couple of yrs...then maybe its worth it. Any thought?
thanks

Beware of the Red Tail......

I wouldn't touch it. NWA doesn't like to play nice with its regionals. Ask PNCL and XJ how they are treated...why would Compass be any different. I thought you had to be at Compass for 2 years to flow up as well. If you were hired now, within 2 years NWA will most likely be hiring anyway.

And if you're a conspiracy theorist..isn't Neal Cohen running/or creator of Compass...Didn't he start the Mid-Atlantic division at Airways? Not 100% sure about Cohen, but i though I heard that somewhere.

Most people expect NWA to be hiring as early as the end of this year. I know of several that have passed up recall to NWA and Compass and have requested extended multi year leaves vs their recall.

Many outside regionals pilots view getting into NWA has a career move. That is true, a career move that will make you hate your job so much that you change your career!

Get away, far far away.

All true except it's 30 months at Compass and then it's still not a guarantee. NWA both has to need pilots and release you from Compass. They could decide to keep you at Compass and hire someone else off the street. Mo if you want to work at NWA then hang on for just a little longer and apply off the street. Should be less than a year now.

This is the best information.

Not really....... If NWA needs pilots and you have 30 months in at Compass than you are good to flow-up if you are senior enough to flow. Kicker is that only 25% of the Compass seniority list can flow up in any given year so if Compass has 400 pilots... 25% of that is 100 pilots.....so if NWA is going to hire 300 pilots..... 100 must be offered to those with 30 months at Compass and the remainder would come off the street.

Folks,

IMHO I would avoid Compass, as it seems like a barginning chip that NWA would use to its advantage. So if there was a merger, or aquisition, Compass could be used as an asset for quick cash, and maybe a loss of jobs for those at Compass. Me thinks that there are better opp at other carriers...

I can see it now. Their new advertising slogan: "Because being owned by NWA means so much....."

So far, only a few furloughed NWA pilots have opted to go to Compass. They are under different terms for flow-through than "street" hires, but the requirement for NWA to need pilots is still there. It appears they're being very selective with the first group they're hiring at Compass. A lot of very qualified guys are being turned away at this point. With many pilots interested in riding the bow wave (with a flow-through deal in-hand), it looks like they can afford to be choosy right now. We'll see how long it lasts.
