I was called for an interview later this month. The HR person I talked with said I should receive an email the next day (last Wed) but I havent received it yet. Should I call them or wait a few more days? Also do they send an application via fedex or snail mail as well? Thanks for any info.
 
You will get the email about 4 days from when you were called. It is 9 pages to fill out and send back to them. Simple HR ?'s, not a time grid to fill out or anything like that. Good luck, when do u interview?

I would call them asap (don't leave messages) and explain the situation. They are pushing lots of paper and as long as you're not a jacka** on the phone, then I think you'll get handled well.

They will FedEx it and e-mail it.
 
Your attitude will not be welcomed at Compass. I've being at Compass for some time now and I will say 2 things. Management are great people and union reps are great guys who do a fine good job. Also the pilots they have choosen so far are a cool bunch of guys and gals and I look forward to flying with everyone of them.

Yeah, I would make sure your e-mail is correct in their database. They DO contact you that way.

You are correct about the seniority # range (you'd probably be in the lower end of the range).

See some of these Compass guys in the Elevator and it seems their to cool to even say "hi". Whats up with that? Remember, who you are and where you work. A NWA redtail regional with a flowback in the future.

I meant he'd be in the 160 range when I said the lower range. Well, 5 CA's per a/c and 36 by the end of 2008. So, my guess would be upgrade in the October timeframe if not a month or two earlier.

No idea on the CA payrate issue.

Check your junk email folder. Could be there.

I totaly agree with this. I have found some important stuff in my junk email box. I guess I had the spam setting a bit high. They may have plain and simply forgot too. Sometimes HR is easy to get a hold of and others they are not and you have to call several times.

If you got the fedex stuff I would not worry.

Just make sure you get them to set up your travel.
 
How many E175s are expected to join the fleet through the end of 07 and ultimately through the end of 08?

Is that 3 a month til March information on good authority? That would be great news!

I hope the company can execute their plan on schedule and clear up this pay issue that is apparently going on.

compass called me yesterday asking if i could take a oct 8th class as opposed to the 26th. Anyone know if i have to leave pdt while doing the home study at compass? (i think she said the 8th but that is a monday and most classes have been on fridays)

You can stay at your old job, They have a dont ask dont tell policy. As of the October 8th class date maybe they got the wrong date. I have to be back on the 8th for the week in MSP and I think it's only one instructor cause we only have class Monday - Thursday. Might want to double check also they have you do the medical the day before and dont know if the clinic is open on sundays
 
For all of you considering Compass as a means to fly to NWA, why don't you just apply to NWA? They're hiring like crazy. They called me for an interview 3 weeks after I applied.

Exceptions can always be made.

I would hesitate to do much of that. Any "flying for compensation" flying goes towards your 121 limit, and if you timed out due to another job, I'm guessing they'd get really, really cranky.

Heyas,

You can do whatever you want, but if Compass has an 85 hour average, there's not much flying you're going to be doing on the side before you run into some kind of limit.

It's not usually the 100hr/mo limit, but the 30/7 limit that will bite you. If you're flying a trip that's worth, say, 26 hours, and they want to extend or junior man you to fly a round trip somewhere (a VERY common
occurrence), and you can't accept the assignment because you're "timed out" because of another job, you are going to be doing a carpet dance at the very least.

Now if you're just CFI'ing or towing gliders out at the gliderport where you're only logging 1-2 hours a month during a 4 day strech of time off, then it probably won't be any big deal. But if you're going to me "flying as much as possible", then IMHO, you're going to be in for a rude surprise. They're NOT going let you drop trips because of other employment.

im talking about 5-10 hours max a month. Typed in a jet i could pick up some very nice day trips.

I don't doubt it. But like I said, it's not the amount of time, but where it falls. Most people bump into 30/7 problems at least a couple of times per year, and that's with the flying already on their line, nothing extra.

If the nice day trips add 5 hours to a block of time in the wrong spot, you will time out.

Also, every operator I've ever flown at reserves the "right of your exclusive service". Meaning that while your line may only be showing a trip worth 24-26 hours, they could reschedule you for more, or infact, call you on a day off. Or if your trip gets a lot of block time due to delays or weather and you get rescheduled ("legal to start, legal to finish" no longer applies), you could wind up timing out.

Plus, what happens if you get delayed at "your other job"? Call in sick? What happens if you have an "incident" while doing it?

All I am saying is that if you have to refuse a trip because of time you logged at another job, they're going to be pretty torqued. If you're on probation when it happens, it'd be pretty ugly.

From the sound it, it seems like Compass is only a place for you to mark the days, and if it goes away, no big loss. If that's the case, then no problem.

what is the upgrade time projected to be. i was looking for a quick left job since my last pic was in a 1900. i have an interview. don't want to bother if it more than 6 months.
