Commuting with Ameriflight?

Is it possible to live in a city other than where you are based and commute as a pilot with Ameriflight? Also, does Ameriflight hire directly into the turboprops? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

What does Ameriflight pay its turbine Capt's?
What kind of schedule do they get (days off/on)?
I am in the OAK area and may be looking for a job building some turbine PIC while part time in the AF Reserves. I want to know if AMF would be compatible.
Any info appreciated.

I think that you would be able to fly for AMF and the reserves.Sundevil have you not applied to Fedex or UPS.And how much are homes in that area.Are there any decent priced homes.

You know the saying, "If you have to ask..."?

I'm gonna be moving out of the area within a year because there is no way I will be able to afford to buy a home. Not on my pay, anyway. Less then I mile where I live, new 2800sq homes are selling for just under a million. 50 year old, 1300sq homes are 500-700K.

1. commuting is frowned upon. not necessarily prohibited, but you better not be late for your run, because you had troubles in transit.

2. TDY is TDY. if you bid system TDY, then you should be ready to travel the country and be gone up to 3 weeks at a time. some bases have a base TDY, but not all.

3. turbine pay varies with equipment. starting 99 pay is around 24k. starting sa227/1900 is 36kish with the retention bonus.

4. the schedule is generally monday night through friday or saturay morning. it varies depending on what kind of run you are assigned to. reserve flying shouldn't be a problem. i can think of two pilots off hand who flew the reserves and were employed with ameriflight. one flew c 130 hercs and the other was a blackhawk captain.

It's called an outstation, and you won't get San Diego unless you're very senior or very lucky, though I'm pretty sure that there isn't an outstation there right now. There are too many other outstations to list them all, and more of them seem to pop up every month.
