Yes, you can get it out of training, and yes there are commutable schedules. However, unlike the rest of the NE IAH has reserve pilots. After several months of reserve you'll only be able to hold a stand-up line for several more months. It's takes about six months to hold a full line. At IAH you will fly about 180 hours in your first six months vs 350 or more in the NE. A lot of guys fly in the NE for a while until they can hold a decent line at IAH and then transfer down.ROSWELL41 said:What about the Texas bases? Are they commutable schedules? TYR you can hold tomorrow. And get a full line. It's treated like a NE base - ie, no overnights for the most part and home each night. TYR is also a nice town, but a dry county (meaning no alcohol).
