What do most of U commuting guys and gals do

at the start of a trip when U have drive

to the Airport?...........Are U paying for parking

or can any ol' commuting pilot get a break into

the Airport Employee Parking for Free

Until They Return? Information from any

commuting pilots who must leave out of the Atlanta Area would be even more greatly appreciated.

Pay for parking at your commuting base and take the receipt to the Chief Pilot for reimbursement. Where I work they reimburse you up to the amount it would cost to park in domicile.

Atlanta is a special case. They bar access to the employee lots unless you're based there. even if they had extra room, the ASA parking lady said they used to charge $50/month to park there.

The Westin sells monthly parking passes for $40/month. it's the only hotel i know of that offers a monthly pass. i've heard of ASA guys that park at the Red Roof Inn on the sly, or at FlightSafety and walk over for the Red Roof shuttle van.

i suppose MARTA would be a option if you could park for free near one of their stations...

So I take it the majority of Regional Airlines do support some type of reimbursement for this hidden Expense?

Namely ExpressJet. or Pinnacle.........as these are the main two I am hoping to get on w/ in 2005.......Expressjet or Pinnacle guys please feel Free to give any more insight to this Parking Question.....

Expressjet- no reimbursement for parking.
Commute out of ATL- I would take Marta from the N.Springs station down to the airport. I looked into parking there and it was $75.00 a month for off airport parking. The van dropped you off inside security at the bottom of the terminal. You needed to get an ATL Badge to do this. To get an ATL badge, it took about a day to jump thru all the hoops and get the paperwork done. You had to sit through a security class and then take a written test and pass to get the badge. Commuted there for 3 years and always took Marta, never had a problem with the train, especially for a buck seventy-five!

hidden cost

That not the last hidden cost.
What about training and first year pay vs. daddy's money to get through flight school.?
What about getting stuck at the bottom of XYZ airline list because growth stopped even though the dorks at flightinfo said capt upgrades were 12 months away ?
Parking is your last concern.

marta is a good option, as long as you don't get in late. if the last flight was running late, i'd just spend the night on a couch in CVG or ATL if i missed the last train at 1 a.m.

Dont know about those two but at Air Wis they will reimburse your parking expense up to what they would have to pay to get a spot in domicle. I.E. since Denver charges the company $37 a month for parking we can get reimbursed up to that amount each month - assuming that you are based in DEN. Now in the case of ORD (where I am based) parking does not cost the employer anything, thus there is no reimbursement for the $20 a month I pay for parking at my home airport.
