HI Everybody;

I'm just doing a little research here and looking for some information. Are there hotels near ATL that have shuttle service to the airport and offer commuters reasonable daily (and possibly weekly) rates? I'm looking at some prospective jobs and trying to figure out the costs associated with being a commuter. I've never had to commute before so I know nothing. I'm trying to weigh the costs of some hotel stays Vs. having to have a crash-pad and maintain another car (purchase costs, MX, fuel, insurance, etc.). This is all new to me so any information and on-topic advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

Signed;

Inexperienced Commuter

I think all of the hotels near the airport have a free shuttle. I stayed at one last week on company business and the rate was $65

You may want to post this on the regional forum -- there's a lot of ASA guys that commute. I think there's one on the South side that is recommended.

The two main hotels that are used on the south side are the Quality Inn (404)761-8371 and the Sleep Inn (770)996-6100. The Quality Inn is 40 + tax a night and the Sleep in is 43? + tax. The Sleep Inn has a Ruby Tuesday's in the parking lot, Dominos will deliver to the Quality. There is a bar near the Quality Inn but your taking your life into your own hands by walking there.

comfortinn airport south 45.00 plus tax

Are you talking about Malones? Near the Quality Inn?

No, southside. College Park close to the Airtran Training Center. Cheapest place in town, but don't be outside after dark.:uzi: :eek:

Would recommend the Clarion in College Park (No park and no college) but good security, big fences, pretty decent rooms, good customer service and you can get this all for about $52.00 out the door.

Thanks for all of the replies. I've never even flown into ATL but I gather that the airport locality is a pretty rough area.

One thing to consider on crashpads is that some are near hotels. There are a few on Virginia Avenue that you could just walk over to the nearest hotel and catch the free shuttle to the airport. So, you wouldn't need a car. Crashpads in that area are around $200-$250 a month.
