Any one have scoop on CommuteAir? QOL, pay, interview...

It's CommutAir. That may be the reason you aren't getting any results when you used the search feature of this site. There was a thread on this 2 weeks ago.

Do they fly airplanes? Yes, Turbo props? Yes, so I think that if any of us who are TRYING TO GET A JOB we can't be too picky, I know that some places are weak but what do ya do???

dude, RUN. This is the last place you want to be.
Dude what the hell do you know with all your high quality training and Convair Type rating.

CommutAir is fine but the same flight time will probably get you into a jet. (I think their mins are still 1200-200)

They quit hiring PFT'ers. Training... or whoever he is, hates them.

I wonder if 8HRRULE/Training was that flamebait... Maverick, if I remember correctly?

Shy

Nice uneducated guess, shy, but unfortunately I think that you are going to put your foot in your mouth on this one. You know the drill:)

Well to answer your original question, pay is awful (and the annual "raise" doesn't even keep up with inflation), QOL has gotten much worse now with heavy unpaid deadheading and long unpaid sits (no duty rig), lots of domicile closures, and uncommutable day trips and overnights. The interview's still pretty pleasant, but the job's moving in the other direction rapidly, I'm sad to say.

I have interviews with Commut Air, and a few of the best regionals in the near future. Thanks for the information.

Commutair

So if you had a choice between flying 135 in a Caravan or the Commuteair gig what would be the better of the two?

TS6m,

Your answer is two fold. First, where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years? If it is an airline, go to Commute Air, get your experience 121 and move on. If it is quality of life, i.e. home at night with family, stability, not being jerked around at work, ect, stay with the Caravan, get the PIC time and either stay or go to Citation Shares, Net Jets, ect.

But, buyer beware of Commutair, they are in REALLY bad legal and financial trouble.

Look for yourself: http://www.shaynegreenwald.com/commutair.asp

And this is only one lawsuite.

The case clearly sais that the 4 counts against Champlain Ent. (Commutair) were dissmissed. I currently work for Commutair and it's not that bad of a company. There are problems and they might get worked out or they might not, but hopefully it will. Commutair has it's good points and its bad points. The thing is if you dont work there, or have not worked there you really dont have a right to talk **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** ( not aiming this @ you LaxPilot). Great bunch of pilots at the company though.

I have had worked there for several years, but moved on. Back in the day of flying under US Airways flag great company, but the owners got greedy and stole from the employees ESOP. The pilot group is outstanding. Sold group of pilots. Baically what I was trying to get at was that the company will "use" you and you should "use" them. That is why there is such a high turn over rate. It is safe to say that within the past year, the F.O. turn over rate was about 80%. They got in and got out. The Capt's stay fo the PIC time and also they are basically stuck because of the requirements to fly for Southwest, Jet Blue ect. (The market is flooded with 737 and Airbus drivers), so this makes it hard for a 1900 driver to make it. True there has been an exception to this, but it has been rare.
