CommutAir, which operates as Continental Connection out of Plattsburgh, NY, signed an agreement with Continental Airlines to increase service from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. It will expand its fleet by up to 16 turboprops. Spokesperson Joel Raymond told ATWOnline that the Regional is looking at Q Series aircraft from Bombardier as well as Saab 340s. No final decision has been made on the type, but Raymond said the carrier expects to be operating the new aircraft by late 2006 or early 2007. "It's very exciting for us," he said. CommutAir has been a Regional partner of CO since 2000 and currently serves 22 cities in eight states with a fleet of 14 Beech 1900Ds.
The company also announced Friday that it raised $37 million in secured equipment financing from Laurus Master Fund of New York for aircraft upgrades.

flying yesterdays airplane into tomorrow

yeah more like flying more fuel conscience airplanes 4 tomorrow unlike the the smaller RJ fleets.

This confirms my thoughs that CAL wants to reduce the RJ fleet size and farm more flying to turboprops. I don't think that CHQ will be flying 69 erj's for CAL more like 30 - 50 erjs for CAL.

In my personal opinion, I think CAL would be happy if XJT took as many of those 69 airplanes as possible out of their system completely. I believe that is what they have been hoping for all along. The whole CHQ thing is just to keep XJT on edge and motivate us to find other work for airplanes that CAL wishes to get rid of.

So, in other words, you CHQ boys and girls don't get too excited about a quick upgrade. I think CAL is just using you as a tool to accomplish the "master plan". :)

And they'll still pay first year Captains $30 an hour with no longevity and FO's will still get a $1/hour raise each year.

You guys that insecure that you have to take the opportunity to tell CHQ pilots to not look foreward to success? IN A THREAD ABOUT COMMUTAIR?!?!?!?!

I have a friend that just left there for ASA because it was looking worse and worse there (he was in Albany). Also, haven't they been expecting to operate a different type of a/c for years?

Also, where is this accouncement? It's not on their web site.

All of this information was distributed in two separate memos. They are relatively old, and can no longer be viewed on the website.

This is in addiction to the 340's contract that regions was awarded in cleveland?

This has nothing to do about bashing CHQ, but thie motivation of CAL. Take a quaalude, it'll be ok.

Regions will be flying the Saabs out of cle. They are EAS routes only. As far as CommutAir it is almost a one for one fleet swap. So yes hopefully we will be getting the 16 saabs or dashs, but we will be getting rid of the 13 or 14 1900's that we have. We will be going to about 6 new cities.

Regions air is still getting the routes. We start up (scheduled to) on the 14th. We're EAS that US Air Express (Mesa...Air midwest) lost.

But yea, we're still here!

From what I can tell from the article they say expand, so that would make me think it isn't one for one or any 1900's returned.

Link didn't work, so go there, then news on top, then news archives, scroll down till browse by topic, select regionals and was the first story.

I work at CommutAir and I haven't heard of any plans for keeping the 1900's. Maybe 2 or 3 for the EAS stuff to PLB.
