I don't care which way they voted, but it is sad to see only 87% voted if that is true. Over something so important, you would hope EVERY pilot would cast a vote.

(That is not a rip on Comair pilots, just a sad comentary on democracy... or republics... or unions... or all of the above.)

I was surprised at the 87% as well. All you had to do was make a phone call and push #1 or #2.

Others I have talked to say that number is actually what is expected.

I didn't expect 100% but I expected over 95%.

It is very sad that only 87% cared enough to vote. The other 13% certainly will have no reason to complain.

I can complain though :)

I'm betting most of the blame goes to the FO's. They sold out everyone for growth and upgrades even though they were already the highest paid FO's in the industry. Forgive me if I don't look you guys in the eye anymore. I'll be too busy pulling the knife out of my back.

WWEfan, please get some anger management.

Or, at least, increase your life insurance. A normal heart can"t take all that.

Sorry, I'm still stewing over the whole "Red Sox winning the World Series" thing.

Will it make you feel better if I tell you that we probably won't see another one in our lifetime?

The bruins will win the cup before the sox win another series I'm afraid. I think the moons only align in the correct way once every 86 years.

Jeckel,
Ok maybe not 250 pilots on bad standing. Maybe 125 and the other 125 didn't give a $hit or they just cx their cell phone to help compensate for the freeze.

Blasphemy!!!!

Heh...... you Boston fans are about as resolute as the Comair pilot group.

Voting results shouldn't contain people that are not eligible to vote (probationary guys, pilots in bad standing, ect.). I'm pretty sure 13% of the ELIGIBLE members did not vote.

This is trully a sad say for the airline industry! When a group of underpaid professionals takes concessions what good can come of that. I had alot of respect for the Comair group, but come on guys WTF. This vote has set a new low for our industry and firmly capped regional airline pay!

Bad Precedent

Whoa there, buddy. Had the Captains, or anyone out the 89 days held the line, including those on reserve, this thing wouldn't have passed. I certainly didn't want it to and did my democratic duty to add my NO! to the pile.

I certainly thought we could get at least a little better deal for the snapbacks should the company not follow through on the deliveries, and be able to come off the freeze at what we should've been at longevity-wise. I hope those 89 days you (the yes-men) got back were worth it.

I just pray that times are better when this thing expires and we can negotiate our longevity back and then some!

In the mean time, I guess I'll have to bid over to the 70, or the E-Jet if'n it comes as Fred said, in order to make my own "raise."

Last of all, we need to do just what JC said in today's VARS, move on and not let this divide us. I accept what the majority said and I'll stay in the game and see how it turns out in the long run. I just hope we haven't set a bad precedent for the rest of the industry. I imagine Brian Bedford and John Ornstein (sp?) are just salivating at today's results, let alone others on management's side.

...I mean, this was their first offer for crying out loud! I thought the collective bargaining rule of thumb was "never accept the 1st offer!"

 87%...what a shame!

I can only attribute it to lots of FUD: fear, uncertainty, and doubt. And yet, I cannot seem to find anyone who says that management had painted a doom and gloom scenario if it had been rejected, IOW, they hadn't even brought out the big guns yet and we just folded.

I know it's a race to the bottom, but did we have to nose it over and light the afterburners like this?

What did you want from the Comair pilot group?

Did you want them to stand behind you and help you go #1 in the john?

Get out and do something for yourself.

This may not be the brightest day in Comair history but that pilot group still has accomplished more that your lame a$$!!!

Comair whores

A lot of people might take offense to this post, but I do not really care. The fact that anyone even considered voting for this is pathetic. If management threatened you with not expanding shall you turn it down, then so be it. That would just mean they are not serious about running an airline. Management got this concession from you guys so easily that I guarantee in the near future they will be coming back saying you did not give enough back. It has been happening at the majors now for three years. If you do not believe me, then it is because you are oblivious to how management works. If I was the CEO for Comair, I would milk you guys for all you are worth. He will too. It looks like hiring your uneducated Comair Academy pilots finally caught up to you. No disrespect to the pilots that have degrees. The uneducated pilots over there finally sold respectable pilots like myself and just under half of the Comair guys out because we have the greatest job in the world and would do it for basically nothing. When will our pilot group as a whole get respect for ourselves and bring this back to a profession? It has been a crappy job long enough.

Personally, I would have preferred them vote it down, but I don't think it's fair to accuse them of racing to the bottom or whatever. It's been over three years and I haven't seen a lot of others "raising the bar" or going on strike. Yes, I know that it's different post 9/11, but why should Comair be the only airline not allowed to take that fact into account and do what they feel is necessary to survive in the post 9/11 environment? Why should they be required to be the martyrs, suffering stagnation while others give them a few "attaboys" then sign lesser contracts to capture the growth?

Management at it's finest. Forcing our pilots to compete for the lowest contracts instead of vice versa. We should be forcing each other to raise our pay instead of vice versa. When the majors were competing for highest pay, everyone was getting paid well. Now look at them, one concession after the next. The majors continue to lose billions, but still keep lowering ticket prices.

Got news for you JECKEL, the ASA pilots had the industry leading contract for 2 years until you negotiated yours, when you topped ours. Ours is over 6 years old and is still better than some. We did our part last negotiations. The world didn't start when the CMR pilots ended their strike, and you and your pilot group don't exist in a vacuum. You believe that you are the only ones who ever raised the bar, you're not, and that's one of the reasons that you have a lot of ASA pilots upset.

I am one of 24 pilots that voted no to Chautauqua's last contract. I will continue to vote no for any contract unless it is industry leading.

Hockey, you need some meds! I need some practice; "Hi, my name is doh. Don't blame me, I'm a 39er! Have you upgraded yet?" I ain't happy about it either, Hockey, but I ain't having a heart attack over it!
