Can someone explain the details of the pay freeze at Comair?

If you were hired do you keep first year pay for two years or does the pay freeze start at year two?

What are the min. days off at Comair?

Thanks in advance for the info...

A new hire will not be affected by the freeze. Your 2nd year bump still happens, and by your year three the freeze ends.

11 days min in a 30 day bid month, 12 in a 31.

No, the pay freeze is for two years. It begins in June 2005 and will end in June 2007. At that point in time, we will be some of the lowest paid airline pilots in the industry (thanks guys and gals). But my guess is Fast Phreddy will be back to ask for more concessions before they freezes are lifted and the lemmings will follow yet again.

Your understanding of the numbers leaves a lot to be desired. Comair will remain among the highest paid regional pilots once the freeze is over. Of course Horizon will be higher, and I think Express Jet will rival it. I don't think the Comair pilots really want to be the highest paid going into negotiations anyway.

Just keep your head down and mouth shut fellow Boilermaker (guessing by your username) ... The pay freeze concession was a really dumb idea. This was further proven by the Mesa code share agreement.

What an ignorant statement! You arrogant CMR pilots will say anything to try and justify your concessionary actions. And again, thanks for making it more difficult for the ASA pilots.

I hope you're not basing your belief that Comair will be among the highest paid pilots out there just on the basis that Phreddy and JC said so. Comair will be among the lowest paid regional pilots once the freeze is over. Compare what other pilots will be making in 2007 to Comair, and do your comparison based on years of service, not number of longevity steps. I did the comparison and when the freeze is over pilots at CHQ, SKW, PSA, XJT, ARW, and the list goes on... will all be paid more than us. The only airline that I could find that will be paying less than us is Mesa (I didn't include ASA and FlyI in the mix because there is too much uncertainty there). If you compare the pay rates based on the number of longevity steps, it appears that our pay scale is still up there (ah, yes, there's fast Phreddy's smoke and mirrors which you people bought into), but if you compare how much each pilot will be making based on years of service we will be making less than almost everone else out there (e.g. the fifth longevity step in our contract comes after 7 years of service, so factor that in your comparison - what will a 7 year CHQ pilot make in 2007 compared to a 7 year (5th longevity step) Comair pilot make in 2007?)

BTW, where are the shiny new 70-seaters that Phreddy promised? Phreddy is now talking about an RFP for the 70's, so does Comair have to bid for these planes against the other DCI carriers? hmmm....

Apparently you don't know much about leverage in negotiations. How difficult would it be for ASA if they were currently the highest paid?

Luckily for me I'm able (and willing) to do some hard research into the numbers myself to form my own conclusions, rather than just buying into whatever I hear...or read on message boards.

Maybe this is a stupid question but what if you’re hired after June 2005? Will there be a freeze or are you frozen at year one pay until 2007? Thanks

See post number 2 above.

(ie; say hired in July '05. First yr. pay until July '06 when you go to second yr. pay. July '07 freeze has ended so you go to 3rd yr. pay. So the freeze does not affect a new hire at this time.)

Mesa makes it harder for everyone

F*** Mesa! I just don't understand what those retards are trying to do with their **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ty contract and don't tell me that it is always management violating their contract. They are little w*h*o*r*e*s of the industry.
