Hi all,

Just curious about "post 9/11" reserve time and upgrade for newhires. I've heard 1.5 years reserve but nothing regarding upgrade.

Thanks....TF

That's because it changes every time we have a class. The first class to upgrade was just announced about a month ago, and I believe the new captains had about three years here. However, this in no way indicates how long it would take YOU to upgrade if you started tomorrow. We are purchasing 3 jets a month, and have plans to hire about 600 pilots this year. And, if you have the time, you may skip over people senior to you that do not. I think the upgrade time is going to go way down. Of course, not many other airlines are hiring, so I'm not sure if you are going to make a decision based on upgrade times. I'm personally very happy that we require 3000 hours to upgrade. I think that's a bare minimum. Good luck to you, and I hope this answers your question.
