To all of those who knew the Comair captain who passed away in Charleston, I am sorry to hear about the news. It is without a doubt a very sad shame. I didn't know him, but a fellow pilot is a fellow pilot. And it seems all too true lately that the pilot groups are turning against each other instead of sticking together. May he rest in peace.

My heartfealt sympathies go out to him and his family and we all should remember them in our prayers. I met him on a couple of occasions and he was a stand up guy.

The same thing happened at Eastern and Pan Am.

This business is rough, but we can't let it get to us.
 
Comair is not releasing any details. All we know is that he "died tragically in his hotel room in CRW."

I can tell you that he was young, seemed in good physical condition, and a heck of a nice guy. Great captain to fly with. Love, prayers, and sympathy to his family.

Not to be secretive or mysterious, but I would rather not spread personal information about the gentleman who is no longer here to defend himself. I can say that the information that should have been kept private regarding what happened was not, and I am not going to contribute to it spreading any more. I am sure the truth will be out at some point. Regardless, a sad loss!
 
Then why post anything at all??? If it's too sensitive, then keep it to yourself.

There are plenty of ex CMR guys here (me included) that might know this guy.

My dad had a good Navy buddy that died during an overnight in Mexico several years ago. They said he went to bed with a bad headache and the next morning after he was late for pickup someone went up and found that he had died in his sleep. It was later determined that he had died from meningitis. I was very sad to hear about it. He was a great guy and I remember all of the fun times we all had together at the air shows and barbeques and such. I knew him when I was just a kid but to me he was the portrait of a Navy Fighter Pilot, a true "Cold War Warrior." He had worked for FedEx. He really was a great guy.
 
Such a sad way to go out, all alone in a hotel room. Does any one know if it was natural causes? Also if anyone knows who it is plase PM me, i am a former Comair F/O and am wondering if i flew with the gentleman. Peace to him and hit family.

Did his last name start with an "S"? I was only at CMR for a short time, but flew with a young guy named Steve S. out of CVG. He was on reserve on the 200. This guy was awesome to fly with. Did a few overnights with him; a memorable one in Fredericton. Whomever it may be, may their family have God's peace and comfort during this dark period.
 
I flew with a Captain out of CVG that was named Steve. One of my first trips out of OE. If this is the same Steve, I can say this is a great loss for all of us. Who ever he is, may he rest in peace.
 
The reason we should all be enlightened is directly connected to the way we pilots learn from each other, mistake or accident. The information may help the next guy when given the similar situation.

So sorry to anyone who dies young.

I agree! Steve was just FUNNY! Always joking around. He never took himself too seriously, and always laughing. He was also compassionate and cared about people. I knew him from flight instructing. Died very young. Please let us know if they are holding services up north. A lot of people will miss him.
 
I looked in the local paper and could not find any news on this event. My prayers go out to this family. May he rest in peace.
 
I'm a former CMR pilot and I would greatly appreciate it if someone would PM me with the name of the pilot in question. There are a lot of young Captains named Steve and I'd like to know if I knew the pilot. I'll keep the info confidential. Thanks.

Yes, his last name started with a "S". Rsv. captain on the 50. He was dating/living with a FA who no longer works for the company. May he rest in peace. There is no obit. in the paper yet.
 
Steve died TOO young. You figure it out. And yes his last name did start with a S. It is sad, and I wish I could have been there for him. He was great.
