According to Fred in the crew room, the Mechs deal isn't part of the equation. This is a new contract for them and not an ammendment.

He says both groups have to agree for this to work. Every FA I've spoken with say no way.

Unlike the pilot group where we have many senior guys/gals making top scale pay, the FAs are mainly a junior group. I think seniority #150 is only 7 years or so and there are about 1000 FAs.

Instead of a 2 to 1 ratio, it'll be 3 to 2. Oh well, better learn how to spell 'Chautauqua' correctly.

After I posted, I realized that those were the #'s after 89 days (at least in terms of the 64/36). I wasn't at Comair then, so it was a pure coincidence that I generated those numbers. Not quite sure what you meant by the 'Chautauqua' spelling statement. Help a brother understand :)

What Comes Around

I am just saying that the there is a remarkable number of parallels between today's Freeze-For-Jets (maybe) to the last contract offer which was ratified in June 2001. Those such as yourself who weren't here now face more or less the same dilemma.

What I have learned from all this is that despite vociferous debate to the contrary, the pilot group will overwhelmingly side with the choice of the MEC. If they had abstained or taken a neutral stance, well now, THAT would have been interesting. It will pass, it wont even be close.

Come next year, we will be spun off and just another contract carrier thrashing about in the churning waters of Lake Whipsaw. Perhaps Chautauqua will take an equity stake in Delta by buying ASA and/or Comair and all of those with their clever little mispellings (Chit taco, etc) better learn how to spell BOSS.

Indulge me for a minute guys, even though I don't really have a dog in the fight here.

If Delta really needed concessions for airplane deliveries, they would have come to you about September of last year. Why are they trying to save a buck six months later after they did all they needed to do to keep them from chapter 11 in the first place? All they're doing is a check of the unity of the pilot group. If they can get you guys to pass this one, they know they can ask for anything the next timeand get it.

Don't take the bait. Vote it down.

Couple of things. First, this comes about now, as there is a new president at Comair. Rademacher was kind of pushed out the door. Randy tried, and failed to get concessions. And Yes, Delta does indeed buy/lease the airplanes, and they can go to any of the DCI carriers Ma Delta wants to put them. Being the highest paid pilot and F/A airline among the 5 DCI carriers is hardly an incentive to bring them there. Good old Fred was who halted all deliverys to Comair when he was President of DCI. Now he has a new slot, and is trying to "grow" Comair, but he still works for Delta

From reading your posts Surplus, I really think you'll vote YES. I'm probably one of the only ones that thinks that, but it's just a hunch. I think you've liked the answers to all of the sticking points. Heck you'll even get back your 89 days:)

I personally think this passing is the best thing that could happen for Comair. If it passes I predict COMAIR WILL BE SET LOOSE AS AN IPO. Freddie Mac will be in charge and will make sure Comair doesn't come back to hurt MOTHER D. Delta needs some cash BADLY and they've leveraged about everything they have to avoid bankruptcy. Some extra money from an IPO will help them for a little while and they can still have CONTROL.

Being sold off will be great for Comair. Comair will be able to bid for flying with other airlines. Hopefully Comair's costs really are LOW ENOUGH to get some of the flying that is out there, because being a CONTRACT CARRIER is difficult with the likes of MESA and CHQ bidding for flying.

I think not being with just Delta is good because I'm still not so sure Delta will be here IN 5-10 YEARS. They have too much debt that they have to eventually pay down and that they have to pay interest on. These RASCALLY FUEL PRICES SUCK BUTTOX too and aren't helping!

I originally, before I said 60/40 thought the vote would come down 70/30. That has changed since I have heard a lot of NOs lately.

I EVEN heard an uneducated moronic F.O on the bottom of RESERVE say, "ALL I CAN SAY IS VOTE NO. We'll lose 2 years seniority we'll never get back. Dude we're making money, screw FRED" This was two days ago. He hadn't read the LOA. He didn't know anything about the PROTECTIONS for his job(not being able to shrink the fleet size after acquiring aircraft). He didn't know that 400 pilots was the number they would have to put below him if this passed. He doesn't realize that if this doesn't pass he's looking at a 2018 UPGRADE!! I think he must have been flying with senior captains and felt cool saying "VOTE NO" I don't know where his mind was.

I have heard there are a lot of other F.O.s that think this is a bad deal and are going to vote No.

I've also came across a lot of Captains that want to vote NO for one reason. THEY'LL LOSE PAY. THEY tell you the exact DOLLAR AMOUNT that they will lose. There are a lot of these guys around.

I've also heard that at the FIRST ROAD SHOW last Saturday some people were really mean to the MEC speakers. Supposedly there were some pilots being really RUDE, saying how stupid this LOA was and turning their backs on the speakers after asking questions and not receiving the answer they wanted. Then some people were applauding in the audience.

Hopefully this is just the LOUD MINORITY.

I think Comair has a lot to gain from this LOA, and I know I PERSONALLY DO.

How many days after voting is completed will we know the results???

Oh and I think I'll change my percentages to 65/35 after some more thought. Crossing my fingers it will be atleast 50.0001/49.9999!!
