Hey, I'm a current college student, I have a few questions:

What are the better fractionals out there.
What is the difference between airline and fractional flying.
What is the difference between corporate and fractional flying.
Is it true that fractionals/corp do not like to hire 121 guys?
What are the hours that fractionals hire at and is a 4 year degree required?

1. Its hard to say who the better fracs are out there, the main ones are Flight Options, Net Jets, Citation Shares, Flexjet. Currently Net Jets is highest paid, and Citation Shares Is comparable but with less benefits.

2. Airlines, you go in the cockpit and turn left and lock the door. Fracs, you get airplane ready, load catering, ice, coffee, newspapers, check weather. You are the ramp crew, security, baggage handler, load master, you get to load all the golf clubs, 100 pound suitcases, dogs, cats, ski's, and whatever else won't fit in the plane. Typical days are 12 hours long and not much sitting around. You fly several legs a day.

3. I have no first hand experience with corporate. I would imagine you are on call more often with considerable less time off than fractionals. Although the flying is more leisurely and considerably less fly time and more waiting time.

4. I don't know about this. Although I have heard they don't like to hire furloughed guys and if so make them resign their airline seniority.

5. I don't think that a degree is required. I think competitive times for fracs are in the 5-6000 range although I'm sure much less get in according to who you know just like everywhere else.

NJA has hired many 121 guys. No problem there. A 4 year degree doesnt really matter one way or another....not a big deal there.
